Instructor Development

Instructor Development Program

Becoming an NSP instructor is a two step process. First you must take the basic Instructor Development course. This class trains you in the effective use of the "six pack" lesson plan and introduces you to various techniques used with adult learners. The second step is to enter the mentoring program in the specific discipline you wish to teach. These disciplines include Ski & Toboggan, Outdoor Emergency Care, Avalanche, Mountaineering, Nordic and Instructor Development. To enter the mentoring program please contact the specific program supervisor.

The Instructor Development course is a prerequisite for becoming an instructor. The Mother Lode Region staff recognizes the importance of this course and is offering members several opportunities to take the class. See the Calendar for specific information.

It is suggested that each Patrol have their own Instructor Development Trainer.
